September 17th 2016 – Follow Me, Do the Things I Do

“And when they had come to him, he said to them: “You know, from the first day that I came to Asia, in what manner I always lived among you, serving the Lord with all humility, with many tears and trials which happened to me by the plotting of the Jews; how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, testifying to Jews, and also to Greeks, repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ.” (Acts 20:18-21)

If you are living the same way you did before you met Jesus, then something is wrong. “Do you mean the bad things I used to do… like lying, drinking, and profanity?” Yes, but only in part because this kind of thinking is what’s wrong with the modern day church. We tend to focus on the ‘things’ we have turned from and not on the ‘One’ we’ve turned to. You see, we should be following Jesus. Jesus said “Follow Me” and “DO the things I do.” What did Jesus do? He reached out to the hurting, loved the unlovable, and He challenged the religious people of the day. We have made Christianity all about what we ‘don’t do’ so that when we don’t smoke dope or drink ourselves into a coma, we think we are living the Christian life. Certainly that is part of it, but it is when we love and serve one another that we are really living the Christian life. Look at the difference Paul made through his ministry. The world would never be the same because of the life of Paul.

Paul wrote, “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:1)

What is your commitment to God? You can judge that by your commitment to ministry, to the Church, and to serving others. Think about it. The fruit of our faith should be active. We should be ‘Bible-doing’ and not just ‘Bible-reading’. It is my job to ask the hard questions and to help you with the answers. Here’s a hard question… Are you making a difference? You probably already know the answer, but if you are not serving the Lord and others, then you are probably not making a difference.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gifts and abilities You have given me. Please forgive me for the times that I have failed to use them to glorify You by serving others. Please give me a burden for the hurting, the unlovable, the unsaved, and for my family in Christ. Give me opportunities to exercise that burden. Lord, I thank You for saving me from the bonds of sin. Please help me to serve You with all of my heart. In Jesus’ name, Amen

September 14th 2016 – Team Jesus

“Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.” (1 Corinthians 12:27)

We have all heard the expression, “There is no ‘I’ in teamwork” and this is even truer for  the church which is the complete “Body of Christ”.  Like a team that has made it to the Super Bowl, we should stand united in Christ working together for one unified purpose – to proclaim the Gospel to the world. This is a lofty goal, yet it is one that our coach has called us to. Christ has given us the directive and now we must follow through, as a team.

(Romans 12:15) “Rejoice with those who rejoice, and weep with those who weep.”

Like a team, we must support each player as they gain ground for the Kingdom. If one member is in pain, the rest should grieve for them, then do what they can to help. If there is a big play and one person is blessed, we all rejoice with glad hearts. There is no room for selfishness or jealousy in the family of God. These things lead to bitterness, deceit, and division. Remember, this is not about us. If we think that this life is all about us, then we miss out on God’s amazing blessings and the team suffers. It’s about our Lord and it’s about others. In front of us is the field of life, and the God of all creation has empowered us to gain ground for His Kingdom. It’s bigger than you and I, yet God has called us to the line of scrimmage. Are you ready? This could be your finest hour.

“We are in Christ and a part of something bigger and more important than just ourselves.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for life and for inviting me to be part of this adventure with You. Thank You for the gifts You’ve given me. Lord, I pray that You use them for Your Kingdom. Help me to get rid of any selfishness and to put others first. Thank you for accepting me on the winning team! In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 10th 2016 – Loving Acts of Service

“For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, you are God’s building.” (1 Corinthians 3:9)

God blesses our acts of service for others and the Church. God fills us and prepares us for service. God doesn’t act for vanity; instead, He is purposeful in everything He does. You, are a part of God’s plan and purpose. You are the breathing, walking and talking result of His Word. God’s Word will not return void. This means that when God invests in you, He expects multiplication of return. Our salvation is a gift from God. What we do with our lives after that is our gift back to God. There are rewards stored up in Heaven for your serving. It is by God’s grace, you are allowed into heaven (Ephesians 2:8-9). Once there, you will be rewarded or not rewarded for your serving. Intentions will not be rewarded.

It goes even beyond that. Do you know someone who is not serving in God? If so, then you are accountable, in love, to call them on it. Appeal to them. Perhaps due to your boldness to hold them accountable, they will not stand before Jesus with a heart full of intentions and hands full of air.

“We will all give an account of what we did or did not do for the Lord.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me so much and being so good to me. Lord, I want to give You my life. I want to give back to others because You have blessed me so much. I am sorry I haven’t been as kingdom-minded as I should have been. Help me to store up heavenly rewards. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

September 6th 2016 – God is Calling, Will You Answer?

“Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” (2 Corinthians 6:17)

Have you ever been called to do something? Maybe you received a call from a friend to help them move. You may have received the call from a family member or friend who needed advice. All those things are great, but did you know that as a Christian, you have been called by God? If you have a relationship with Jesus, then you are called by Him to change the world. This may be through personal evangelism, serving at your church, giving to the ministry or many other things. Whatever the call may be, all Christians should obey God’s call on their life.

A few years ago, God called us into a new adventure with this ministry.  He encouraged me to step out and start writing and teaching His word to others. From that moment over three years ago, God has increased the number from a couple of people reading each day, to days that have over 50,000 views, but more importantly, He has continued to change lives through the teaching of His Word. I didn’t know all the details, I just was obedient to His call. God told me to teach His word, He would take care of the rest.

As of yesterday we reached a total of “since we started” 3,000 people that have come to know Jesus personally, and these were the people that took the time to write and tell us. All of this because I answered a call and partnered with Jesus. I had no idea that the call He had placed on my life would end up impacting people all over the world, but God did!

You honestly have no idea what God is going to do through our obedience to His call on your life. Take that step today. Walk in boldness and Faith and Trust the Lord, live for Him and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

“We are all called to be different in our lives, and we should be passionate and serious about that calling.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for saving me and changing my life. Today, I give my life to You and ask that You would use my life for Your glory and the good of others. Give me a passion for the lost and an opportunity to use my gifts and talents for Your Kingdom. You’ve called me to action, and I’m answering. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 31st 2016 – Blessed To Be A Blessing

“Blessed be the LORD your God, who delighted in you, setting you on His throne to be king for the LORD your God! Because your God has loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.” (2 Chronicles 9:8)

King Solomon was one of the greatest kings of Israel. During his reign, Israel experienced a great time of peace and prosperity. In 2 Chronicles 2, we see that Solomon asked the Lord for wisdom to rule the people, and in response to this request; God blessed him with riches and honor like no other before or after. After this, Solomon’s wisdom was known throughout the world and rulers like the queen of Sheba, came to hear his words and see his wealth.

Much like Solomon, God has blessed each and every one of us with something. It may not be the great power and wealth that Solomon had, but everything we have can be used for Him. When we use our time, money or words to be a blessing, we are living out the Gospel and bringing glory to God. Today, look for opportunities to bless others. As you do this, others around you will take notice and like the queen of Sheba will proclaim, “Blessed be the Lord your God.”

“God blesses us so we can be a blessing to others.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the blessings in my life. I praise You for giving me so much and I pray that You would help me to use it for Your Kingdom. Open my eyes today for opportunities to bless others and glorify Your name. Continue to use me to reach others with the Gospel. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

August 29th 2016 – Share Your Story with People

“Then he said: ‘I am indeed a Jew, born in Tarsus of Cilicia, but brought up in this city at the feet of Gamaliel, taught according to the strictness of our fathers’ law, and was zealous toward God as you all are today.'” (Acts 22:2-1)

In Acts 22, Paul shares his ‘God story’, his testimony. Why is he doing this? Is it so others will be amazed at his religious upbringing or at the depth of his biblical training? Is it to glorify his past? No, Paul is sharing his testimony to lead others to Christ by explaining who he was before Jesus, what Jesus did, and the joy that he now has because of Jesus. This is one of the most effective ways of sharing your faith You see, people can argue about historical facts and they can disagree over cultural details, but people cannot argue with the fact that you found love, joy and forgiveness at the foot of the cross. Brother or sister, don’t be shy about telling your ‘God story’. Tell it to as many as will listen and you will be amazed at how God will use it to change the lives of those around you.

Share your God story often with people.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me and saving me. Though I was a sinner, You sought me out and saved me from who I was so that I could live for You forever. Please give me courage and opportunity to share my testimony with others and forgive me for times when I had opportunities to share and did not. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

August 28th 2016 – It Starts with You and Me

“These lived in the days of Joiakim the son of Jeshua, the son of Jozadak, and in the days of Nehemiah the governor, and of Ezra the priest, the scribe.” (Nehemiah 12:26)

In the days of Nehemiah, there was only a small percentage of Israel that left Babylon to go back to the land and yet, their love for God and for each other leads to incredible things. Each person was part of rebuilding the wall, defending against enemies and encouraging one another. Today, the same is true about each of us. When we give our life to God, we can change the world.

Will your life make a difference? Over and over, we have one life making a difference in the Bible and in real life. Not just the well-known heavy hitters like Moses or Paul, but two men many don’t know or could not identify. Ezra and Nehemiah made a huge impact in their community and in the course of their nation. You can impact the course of your family, neighborhood, town state or even the world. That being said, changing the world is too big. You don’t start out by changing the world; you start out by saying ‘yes’ to God. Then, you begin to change, and then your light begins to influence or change others. This leads to a domino effect of change that leads to communities that are on fire for Jesus Christ, which can change the world.

“There is no question; one life can make a difference. The only question is… will it change yours? You decide.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I desire to use my life for Your Kingdom. I am imperfect but willing. Take my life, my resources and my relationships and use them to impact my community with the Truth of the Gospel. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I am fully equipped for this ministry. In Jesus’ name, Amen

August 25th 2016 – Live for the Lord, Serve Others

“Now when we heard these things, both we and those from that place pleaded with him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, “What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.” (Acts 21:12-13)

Sometimes we say, “I would be willing to die for the Lord.” If you say that and really mean it, then that’s awesome. But are you willing to live for the Lord?

Paul wrote, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

If anyone lived for Christ, it was the Apostle Paul. He endured many trials and suffered greatly in order to further the Gospel. Paul did end up dying for the Lord, but by his living for the Lord, his life was “poured out as a drink offering” (2 Timothy 4:6). If you are living for the Lord, then you will be giving your life away and living sacrificially for others and not for yourself.

Jesus said, “If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me, you will find it.” (Matthew 10:39)

Are you giving your life away?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for giving me new life in Christ. Please help me to live for You and help me to serve others sacrificially. Please forgive me for times when I have lived selfishly. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
