November 10th 2016 – Unhindered

“If others are partakers of this right over you, are we not even more? Nevertheless we have not used this right, but endure all things lest we hinder the gospel of Christ.” (1 Corinthians 9:12 )

Paul had given up everything for the sake of the Gospel. He had been imprisoned, beaten, shipwrecked and snake-bit, but he still remained steadfast in declaring Christ crucified. Even in his letter to the church of Corinth, we see a man who is willing to continue the race even if all support falls out from underneath him. How could he do this? Simple. He knew the God He served.

When we step out in obedience to God, we don’t always know what may happen next. He may lead us to share the Gospel with someone even though we don’t know how they will respond. Sometimes, we may give to our church while not knowing how it will affect our budget for the week. Whatever the situation, there is one unchanging element – God. He is still the same God who provided for Paul despite the lack of those who gave. He’s still the same God who protected Paul while adrift at sea. He is the same God who gave His own Son to die for our sins in the ultimate act of love. My friend, because He is God, we can step out in faith and experience a life like no other. Because He is God we have the freedom to serve Him with all our hearts.

“When we give our lives to God, only then do we discover maximum freedom.”

Prayer:

Heavenly father, Thank You for all that You have done for me. Thank You for Jesus and the gift of salvation. Lord, because of that gift, I am now free to serve You with all my heart and soul. Remove the fear and doubt in my mind. Help me to give all of my life to You and use me for the work of Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

November 3rd 2016 – Why Would God Choose Us (Part 5 of 5)

“For you see your calling, brethren, that not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called. But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;  and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence.  But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption—  that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31)

Today, as I wrap up this mini-series on why God choose us, from, I want us to look at how the Bible brings these verses out.  God looked down from heaven and He chose us in spite of us. Isn’t that great?  We are chosen by the Great “I Am” to be a co-partner with Him, to help people and share His message of eternal salvation.  God could have just done it Himself, but He chose to work through us to let people see the light.

That’s why we can never boast in ourselves, because we know who we are.  We know where we came from, so our boast is always in God.  As we looked at David, Rahab and Joseph these last few days, we could have looked at so many more in the Bible that started off badly, yet God took them on a journey and made something great out of them.

So today, don’t put yourself down.  See yourself the way God your Heavenly Father sees you, “IN JESUS”!  That’s why He sees you blessed, because Jesus is blessed.  That is why He sees you healed, because Jesus is healed.  Start seeing yourself the way God sees you and never forget from where you came, and yet, always remember where you’re going.  Enjoy the ride, He brought you this far, He’ll get you to the finish line.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, You have gotten me to the starting gate and I know that You will get me to the finish line.  It’s not about me, it’s about You, Christ in me, the hope of glory. Thank You for the precious gift of salvation. Your love and forgiveness have changed my life, and I desire to show that same kind of love and forgiveness within the relationships around me. Fill me with Your Spirit and instruct me by Your Word, so that I can live like Jesus. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

October 31st 2016 – Why Would God Choose Us (Part 2 of 5)

“Instead, God chose things the world considers foolish in order to shame those who think they are wise. And he chose things that are powerless to shame those who are powerful.” (1 Corinthians 1:27)

We looked at King David yesterday.  Even though his father rejected him, God didn’t, and when it was time for Him to come to the next step, he was ready.  We see this in the great story of David and Goliath.  When David came to where the children of Israel were fighting the Philistines, he was immediately put down by his older brother.

(1 Samuel 17:28-30) Now Eliab his oldest brother heard when he spoke to the men; and Eliab’s anger was aroused against David, and he said, “Why did you come down here? And with whom have you left those few sheep in the wilderness? I know your pride and the insolence of your heart, for you have come down to see the battle.” And David said, “What have I done now? Is there not a cause?” Then he turned from him toward another and said the same thing; and these people answered him as the first ones did.

David didn’t let this discourage him.  He moved on with what he knew he had to do.  It should be the same with us.  There will be times that even our family members might not understand why we believe the way we do, but we need to be true to God and we will see that He will get us right where He wants us to be.

Discouragement will always come and at times it might come from where we least expect it, but we need to know that even like David, God is with us.  He promised He will never leave us or forsake us.  So today, if you feel discouraged or that no one understands, let me say this, “GOD DOES” and He will see that you get to the promised land that He has for you.

Remember, people look at the outside, but God looks at the inside.  Keep your heart pure, serve Him and watch Him line everything up in your life and get you into a position for success.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, My feet are ordered by You and I know that You will get me into the right place at the right time.  You guide my footsteps and my trust is in You. My faith is in You Lord, it gives me all the confidence I need. I love You, I paise You and trust You. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

Invitation:

If you are ready to ask Jesus into you life please pray the prayer with me below.

God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that way will eventually lead to death. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge that Your Son Jesus Christ gave His life for me on the cross at Calvary. I ask humbly to receive the forgiveness You have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. I ask this in Jesus’ precious and holy name. Amen.

October 25th 2016 – Incline Your Ear to My Sayings

“My son, give attention to my words; incline your ear to my sayings. Do not let them depart from your eyes; keep them in the midst of your heart; for they are life to those who find them, and health to all their flesh. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” (Proverbs 4:20-23)

“Incline your ear to my sayings”  Think about this, we listen to so many people during the course of our lives, yet the Words of Almighty God are the greatest words that we can listen to. Jesus said in (John 6:63) “that the Words that He speaks to us are spirit, and they are life.”

The word incline means to tilt, to tip or slant.  I love this, we’re to tilt our ear to the Word of God.  Have you ever been with someone and you couldn’t hear them really well?  What did you do?  Most likely you tilted your ear towards them so you could hear them better. I sometimes do this  with my wife when it’s noisy and I couldn’t her. This is what God want us to do concerning His Word.

As we read the Word, or hear it being preached, let’s tilt our ear towards it so we get the fullness of God’s meaning out of it.  Jesus said it like this in (Mark 4:9) “And He said to them, ‘He who has ears to hear, let him hear!’”  Sometimes we hear, but we don’t hear.  We hear everything that our mind has going, but we don’t hear what God wants us to hear and that hinders us.

So today, lets make a decision to tilt our ears to hear His voice speaking through His Word.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I tilt my ear toward your Word. I promise to give it my full attention and listen to what the Spirit is saying to me. Your Word is life to me and I want to continue to fill myself with it. I thank you for always being here to guide me and look out for me.. You God are so good and I am so grateful for all You have done for me. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.

October 19th 2016 – One Thing

“One thing I have desired of the LORD, that will I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in His temple.” (Psalm 27:4)

Many times in life we go after things, but this scripture states that all we need is one thing.  What is that “One Thing” that we should desire over anything?  What is that “One Thing” that should burn in our hearts?  I know for me, it is to know Him.  I have found that when I put Him first, everything just seems to work out.

Jesus said it this way in (Matthew 6:33) “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”

As we seek Him first and make Him the main part of our lives, it just seems that everything comes together.

So today, make a decision to make Him the “One Thing” that you desire above anything.  Fall in love with Him, and enjoy His goodness.  Your Heavenly Father loves you so dearly and only wants the best for you.

He desires “One Thing” more than anything, and that “One Thing” that He desires is you.  Sometimes that seems so hard to fathom, but it is true!  Anyone who would take the time to count every hair on my head must truly love me.  So enjoy Him, let Him enjoy you, and you will see that the “One Thing” is the best thing!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I come to You humbled and broken, Please forgive for not always seeking You first in everything I do. Today, I choose the “One Thing” that is the best thing, my Heavenly Father, and I make You the main thing in my life today.  You are my number one!In Jesus’ name, Amen.

October 13th 2016 – Forgiven in Christ our Lord!

“Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God” (Romans 15:15)

Satan loves to remind us of our past sins and failures. He finds great pleasure in bringing up things that God has long forgiven us of. Revelation 12:1 refers to Satan as the “accuser of our brethren.” That’s what he does, but not because he’s really got anything on us. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the Bible tells us that your sins have been separated from you as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12). So, what does it profit the enemy to bring up what you’ve been forgiven of? He wants to distract you from following Jesus. If he can get you to listen to his accusations, maybe he can shame you into believing that you’ve crossed some line of forgiveness that doesn’t exist. That is his game and he is betting that he can pull you into it. Remember the words of 1 John 1:9…

(1 John 1:9) “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”

Has Satan distracted you from following Jesus? Don’t believe his lies, you need to quit listening to your enemy. You have got a great future ahead of you. Satan, on the other hand… well… his future is not so good because he will be thrown into the lake of fire. He will be destroyed. He knows it. So, the next time the enemy tries to remind you of your past, remind him of his future.

“To often forget what we should remember and remember what we should forget.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for the forgiveness of my sins. I rejoice in knowing the future that lies ahead of me is so much better than the past that is behind me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

October 12th 2016 – Rejoice During the Test!

“In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,” (1 Peter 1:6)

It has been said that the  Apostle Paul (with the Holy Spirit) wrote 13 of 27 books that make up the New Testament. In His writings, I’m sure that you have noticed that the Apostle Paul gets into a lot of tight spots. What do we then see him doing? Many times we see him recalling the incredible things God has done in his life in the midst of trials. Do you enjoy tests? Not many people do, but tests serve some valuable purposes. They reveal strengths and they reveal weaknesses. They demonstrate what we know, what we do not know, and they teach us how to apply knowledge. Testing highlights God’s faithfulness in our lives and in the lives of others. We can then patiently endure the test knowing that no matter the outcome, God is in control. When you are going through a test, remember all the things that God has done for you and then praise Him.

(Philippians 4:8) “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy — meditate on these things”

“Remember all that the Lord has done for you when going through trials and difficulties, Rejoice in those Test!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your strength and comfort during times of testing. Please help me to praise You even in difficult situations. Please help me to be an encourager to others when they are going through a test. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

September 30th 2016 – Foolproof Directions

“Yet surely My words and My statutes, Which I commanded My servants the prophets, Did they not overtake your fathers?” (Zechariah 1:6a)

Have you ever been on a trip to a brand new destination? You plan for months the things you’re going to do and the areas you want to visit. Finally, the day comes and you head out the door with directions in hand and a joy in your heart. Of course, a few hours later that joy is gone as you realize those directions were not as foolproof as you had thought.

Many people in the world seem to think that all roads and all religions lead to heaven and that truth is relative. While this may sound good to people, in practice it leads to frustration, bondage and separation from God. The good news is that God has revealed to us His Truth. His Truth is not dictated by man nor is it blown around by every fad or current event. His Truth is the rock, and we can place our lives on it and find peace for our souls. Maybe today you awoke to a life in turmoil and an uncertain future. Well, I am here to tell you that God has a future and hope for you. You can find out all about it in the Bible. It’s a story of love, grace and forgiveness. It’s also the ultimate guide book and much better than any directions you’d Google online.

“The revelation of God’s Truth can be that hope which sets you free.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Today, I woke up with questions, fears and uncertainty. Lord, give me a heart for Your Word. Help me to read it daily so that I can answer the questions of life and overcome my doubts and fears. Guide my life so that it is a reflection of You. Thank You for Your love and forgiveness, use me today. In Jesus name, Amen.

September 15th 2016 – Stop Making Excuses!

“Then said I: “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I am a youth.” But the LORD said to me: “Do not say, ‘I am a youth,’ For you shall go to all to whom I send you, And whatever I command you, you shall speak.” (Jeremiah 1:6-7)

God knows everything about us… what we’ve done, what we will do – it’s a hard thing to really grasp. In spite of this, He still wants to use us. Many times God’s plan for our lives does not jive with our own plan for our lives. We say things like, We are too young or old, we don’t have enough skill or money,  or most of all time, What do we do then? Jeremiah wanted God to accept the excuse that he’s too young and inexperienced to do what God has called him to. God, on the other hand, knew exactly what Jeremiah was capable of. He chose Jeremiah not because of what Jeremiah wanted to do, but because of what He could do through Jeremiah.

Have you been handing God excuses? “Lord, I know You want me to do this but…” How can you say “Lord” and “but” in the same sentence? You certainly shouldn’t. It’s one or the other. Either He is Lord of your life or He isn’t. If you are throwing out excuses not to do what God has asked you to do, maybe you need to consider just who is Lord of your life?

God’s will leads to blessing; our selfish will leads to destruction.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Forgive me for times when I’ve given You excuses instead of hearing, believing and doing. Please show me areas of my life where I am saying “but” to You. In Jesus’ name, Amen

September 6th 2016 – God is Calling, Will You Answer?

“Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” (2 Corinthians 6:17)

Have you ever been called to do something? Maybe you received a call from a friend to help them move. You may have received the call from a family member or friend who needed advice. All those things are great, but did you know that as a Christian, you have been called by God? If you have a relationship with Jesus, then you are called by Him to change the world. This may be through personal evangelism, serving at your church, giving to the ministry or many other things. Whatever the call may be, all Christians should obey God’s call on their life.

A few years ago, God called us into a new adventure with this ministry.  He encouraged me to step out and start writing and teaching His word to others. From that moment over three years ago, God has increased the number from a couple of people reading each day, to days that have over 50,000 views, but more importantly, He has continued to change lives through the teaching of His Word. I didn’t know all the details, I just was obedient to His call. God told me to teach His word, He would take care of the rest.

As of yesterday we reached a total of “since we started” 3,000 people that have come to know Jesus personally, and these were the people that took the time to write and tell us. All of this because I answered a call and partnered with Jesus. I had no idea that the call He had placed on my life would end up impacting people all over the world, but God did!

You honestly have no idea what God is going to do through our obedience to His call on your life. Take that step today. Walk in boldness and Faith and Trust the Lord, live for Him and get ready for the adventure of a lifetime!

“We are all called to be different in our lives, and we should be passionate and serious about that calling.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for saving me and changing my life. Today, I give my life to You and ask that You would use my life for Your glory and the good of others. Give me a passion for the lost and an opportunity to use my gifts and talents for Your Kingdom. You’ve called me to action, and I’m answering. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
