October 21st 2016 – Standing on the Promise

“Therefore do not cast away your confidence, which has great reward. For you have need of endurance, so that after you have done the will of God, you may receive the promise:” (Hebrews 10:35-36)

Many times we can feel like hanging it all up.  You know, when we say things like, is this really ever going to happen?  Will  healing ever take place?  I’ve been praying for a spouse for so long, and it just seems like I’m getting older and older.

In this verse, it says, “DON’T GIVE UP”.  It’s not always easy, but I’ll tell you this, it is rewarding.  Remember that God is always doing a work in us and around us.  He is bringing situations together, and when it involves others, He’s got to get everything all lined up, and He is the only One Who knows how that all works.

God is developing us into the image of His dear Son, so when it takes a little longer then we would like, hold on. Let God, your loving Father, take the reins of your life and you’ll see how it will all work out for the best.

The journey at times may seem bumpy or even scary, but know that God made the train and He sure knows how to drive it.  The last part of this verse states that we need endurance.   We know that, but we don’t want to wait for it.  Yet, if we will hold on and are patient, and do His will, it says that we will receive the promise.  So today, get your eyes on Him.  Make Him the most important person in your life, and at the right time, things will happen and you’ll say, “Man, I’m glad I waited”.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I choose today, to do it Your way, and not my way.  I choose to wait on You, and I know that You always have my best interest in mind.  I know that You will make it all work for Your good and mine. Thank you for loving me. In Jesus name Amen.

October 10th 2016 – Quit Working, Jesus Paid the Debt!

“It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualification comes from God. He has enabled us to be ministers of his new covenant. This is a covenant not of written laws, but of the Spirit. The old written covenant ends in death; but under the new covenant, the Spirit gives life.” (2 Corinthians 3:5-6)

What you put your confidence in tells a lot about you. Do you put confidence in your money? Maybe you are confident in the government or your job. Whatever it may be, the truth is that unless we are confident in God alone, we will continue to struggle. This is especially true in the area of salvation.

As Christians, we can often say, “Yes I trust Jesus alone for my salvation,” but then turn and begin acting like our works dictate God’s love. Let me assure you that God’s love and grace towards you is not based on your ability to please Him, but they are completely based on the work Jesus did on the cross. Remember, we do not work to gain salvation, but we work because we are grateful for salvation. Today, thank God for His grace and then allow that thankfulness to work itself out in love for God and others. I promise that your life will never be the same.

“We should trust God for our salvation and for the results of any ministry we ever attempt.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the free gift of salvation. I am sorry for those times I begin thinking that I can earn more love or grace from You. Help me to rely more on Your grace and less on myself. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

October 9th 2016 – When We Give

“Then Peter said, Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them walking, leaping, and praising God. (Acts 3:6-8)

Many times we try to give what we think others might need, but as we see in this story, Peter didn’t have any money on him, he had something better.  He had the power of the Name of Jesus, and with that Name he was able to see a miracle happen.

So don’t always look for what you don’t have, look for what you do have.  What’s that in your hand?  You might say, well I don’t have a hundred dollars to give to the work of my church, but God will always say “what do you have?”  If you’ve got five and you’re willing to give that with a cheerful heart, God sees it just like it was a hundred.

You might say, well I don’t have the time to help in the children or teen ministry.  Yet maybe you can help on special events or once and a while.  “Give What You Have” and give it from your heart.  God our Father doesn’t look at the outside, He looks at the heart.

Do you remember the poor widow who gave the two pennies?  She had so little but Jesus said she gave so much.  Many try to say, so all I have to do is give a little like that poor widow did?  Well, no!  The scripture said she gave all that she had.  So what do you have today?  Give that and watch God give you such an increase that it will just amaze you.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Today, I give what I have and I give it from my heart. You were never looking for us to give what we don’t have,  just to give what we do have. I have learned that as I give (not out of obligation, but wanting to give) more of my time, my talents, and my treasure, You God, always reward me with blessings much greater than what I freely gave to further Your Kingdom. You always amaze me Lord. Thank You for teaching me to give in this way..
