“I cannot eat for sighing; my groans pour out like water. What I always feared has happened to me. What I dreaded has come true.” (Job 3:24-25)

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)

Job was in a hard situation. In fact, you could say it is one of the most intense situations in Scripture. He has lost all that he loves and now sits before the Lord in great grief, even to the point of wishing he had never been born. Surely, things could not get worse. Yet, later, in this chapter, his friends come to “help” by pointing out that he must have sinned greatly to be punished by God in this way. These accusations show a flaw in our thinking as humans. In a world that is increasingly more interested in karma than in biblical truth, it is easy to see someone suffer and assume they are getting what they deserve. The problem is that Jesus himself points away from this train of thought to a deeper concern.

In Luke 13, Jesus is asked about people who died in tragic ways. The assumption was that they were “The worst sinners in Jerusalem” until Jesus said “No, and I tell you again that unless you repent, you will perish too.” Jesus points us away from the judgment of others sin and instead tells us to assess our own relationship with the Lord. So next time you see suffering in someone else, do not assume punishment for sin. Instead, assess your own walk, and do what you can to encourage them in the Truth of Christ.

If someone is suffering, it doesn’t mean they have done anything wrong!

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Forgive me for those times I have judged someone’s suffering. Help me to live a Proverbs 3 life of not leaning on my own understanding. Teach me your ways and use me to minister to the broken. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Last of all, as though I had been born at the wrong time, I also saw him.” (1 Corinthians 15:8)

Anyone who has read through the bible knows that God really does choose the most unlikely people. There is Moses, who murdered an Egyptian. King David, commonly known as a man after God’s own heart, who committed adultery and murder. Then there was Paul, (known as Saul during that time) who was an intelligent man who knew the Hebrew Scriptures and had a passion for God. The problem was that he did not believe Jesus was the Messiah. Because of this, he led the way in the persecution of everyone who called themselves a follower of Jesus.

I’m certain that had we been given the choice about Paul, we probably would have asked God to remove him from the equation. After all, with Paul out of the picture, persecution would slowly fade and the church would begin to grow. It may sound good, but God had an even greater plan in mind. Instead of removing Paul from the equation, Jesus changed the equation completely. He changed Paul’s life and transformed him into one of the greatest missionaries this world has ever seen. This man that hated Jesus was now in love with His Savior to the point of giving his life for Him. Because of Paul, we have much of the New Testament and a witness to the power of the Gospel to change a life forever.

God independently chooses the unlikeliest characters as His trophies of grace to reach and teach others about His love and plan of salvation.

Prayer:

Dear God, I praise You Father for Your love and grace. Thank You for choosing the unlikely characters for Your work. It speaks so wonderfully of Your grace. Lord, I know that I too am an unlikely character, but I pray that You would use me in mighty ways today and every day, thank you for loving me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“then hear from heaven Your dwelling place, and forgive, and give to everyone according to all his ways, whose heart You know (for You alone know the hearts of the sons of men),” (2 Chronicles 6:30)

Trials, hardships, frustrations – whatever they’re called, we all deal with them at one time or another. The good news is that God desires to speak to us during those times. It could be that you are surrounded by circumstances that are difficult, or you may have made bad choices which have led to a bad situation. In those times friend, remember the words of Jesus Himself…

(Matthew 11:28) “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”

Many times when life is going well, we can’t hear the Lord, even when He is shouting to get our attention. It’s often in those times of struggle that He whispers and we hear His voice loud and clear. If today you find yourself in the midst of hardships, seek the Lord. Use this time to seek forgiveness and cling to the grace of God. Cry out to God and He will hear from Heaven and pour out His love upon you in abundance. When we do this, God makes the most of our pain and can bring something good from something bad.

Whenever something in life goes wrong, use the moment to draw closer to the Lord.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the life You have given me. Lord, I pray that when this life gets difficult that I turn to You. Help me draw closer to You whether I am enjoying blessings or walking through trials. Father, may each day and circumstance be used to make me more like Jesus. Forgive me of my sins and fill me with Your Spirit so that I can be used to build Your Kingdom. In Jesus precious name, Amen

At this special time of year, I want you to know that I give thanks for you, your prayers, and your support of Scriptural Seeds Ministries throughout the year. In the 2015 calendar year starting in June we launched this website ministry. God has blessed us to date with approximatly 4500 visits each day and totaling 45 countries. Since June we 261 precious souls have acknowledged Jesus Christ as their Savior. This has been a wonderful year, God has done so much more then I ever imangined. Thank you Lord….

As a nation, we celebrate Thanksgiving. For one day, the nation offers up thanks – to who or to what? It is important that as believers we offer up thanks not just one day a year but all the time. We do not offer up thanks to an unknown god but to a God that we know and Who knows us. We have so much to be thankful for – our God, our salvation, our forgiveness, our families, our church and the list goes on and on. Take the time every day to thank God for all the many blessings He has so lovingly given you. While the world may celebrate Thanksgiving once a year, we can and should celebrate it every day.

Thanksgiving to God should be an every day thing.

Dear God, Thank You for the gift of salvation. Thank You for Your love, grace and mercy. Thank You for my family, my friends and my church. You have given me so much to be thankful for. Lord, help me to overflow with this thanksgiving so that others will see and desire to know You. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

“I tell the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Spirit, that I have great sorrow and continual grief in my heart. For I could wish that I myself were accursed from Christ for my brethren, my countrymen according to the flesh,” (Romans 9:1-3 )

The Apostle Paul’s legacy endures as a challenge for us to re-think our obligation toward others. He was willing to make a sacrifice of his own life so that others could know Jesus. Are you willing? Whether we want to admit it or not, Christians place conditions on compliance. I will do this or that as long as it falls within certain limits. What conditions did Jesus place on His love and His willingness to sacrifice?

Here’s a common situation… a homeless man asking for a little cash… how do you react? “If I give that homeless man a few dollars, he may go and buy alcohol or drugs. I don’t want to be an enabler.” Yeah, maybe he will buy those things, but what if you share Jesus and pray for him? Jesus died for that man just as he died for you. God took the action for you to claim the opportunity. Friend, be an enabler… enable others with the choice – Jesus… yes or no?

What about sharing with that long time friend, a family member or passing acquaintance? How will they react? If your friend or family member were drowning would you be considering their reaction before throwing a life line to them? Of course not! I say let’s hang up the excuses and get beyond comfortable.

Followers of Jesus should care and be willing to sacrifice for those that do not know Jesus as their Savior.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, Thank You for saving me. Please soften my heart towards others and give me a deep caring for them. Open up opportunities for me to share and help me to be faithful to do so. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.

“Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. They also had John as their assistant.” (Acts 13:3-5)

In the book of Acts, the progression of the life of Paul is revealed. Initially, we see Paul fighting against God. Paul is living out his life doing his ‘own thing’ when he meets God in a very real way. Paul’s experience on the road to Damascus began this progression where we see him begin to give his life over to God. The book of Acts allows us to watch first hand as we see this man give his life away. One danger is to look at Paul’s life and think, “Wow, that was great for Paul, but can my life really make a difference?” I used to ask myself the same question, but not anymore.

You see, one of the beautiful truths of God’s Word is that God will work through anybody who is willing. He is not looking for ability, but for availability. Throughout the Bible we see men and women accomplishing great and incredible things. These men and women had some of the same weaknesses and wanderings we do, yet the Lord used them to touch many lives. The most difficult part of this journey is the first step. I encourage you to take the first step. Step out in faith and begin to walk the incredible journey God has planned for you. You will look back in amazement at what the Lord will do. I know I do every day.

We all should be ministers and make a difference in this world.

Prayer

Dear Lord, You tell us to pray for workers in the harvest. Lord, I want to pray that You make me a worker in the harvest. Whatever my gifts and abilities are I lay them before You now and ask You to work through me to help change this world. I know I am not saved through these acts of service, but because I am grateful for Your forgiveness, I desire to serve so others may come to know You. I am a Christian because someone cared. Now it is my turn. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen

Jesus, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. From this day forward, I will no longer be controlled by sin, or the desire to please myself, but I will follow You all the days of my life. Those days are in Your hands. When the LORD began to speak by Hosea, the LORD said to Hosea: “Go; take yourself a wife of harlotry and children of harlotry, for the land has committed great harlotry By departing from the LORD.” (Hosea 1:2)

We often hear Christians say things like, “The Lord just wants me to be happy” or “God wouldn’t ask me to do anything that I can’t handle.” The truth is that God often asks His people to do what seems impossible. Hosea was told by God to take a wife that would cause him much pain. Abraham was told to sacrifice his only son, whom he called ‘laughter’ and loved dearly. Mary, who was called most blessed among women, was required to stand by and watch her son die on the cross. These three, and many others in the Bible, were asked by God to do what we would think impossible for them; things that would bring pain and suffering. They had different circumstances, and different struggles, but the one thing they shared was obedience.

(Matthew 16:24-25) “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.'”

Jesus went through incredible suffering and pain to free us from the bondage of sin. He did not die just so we could be happy. He did not give His life so that we could simply pursue our own selfish desires. He died to set us free and to give us the model of how to live free. He taught the disciples through His Word and led by example that our calling is to lay down our own lives for the sake of others.

Following Christ is hard, but it’s the least we can offer Him for the price He paid.

Prayer

Dear Jesus, Thank You for loving me so much that You were willing to die a horrible death and suffer the humiliation of my sins. Lord, I choose to follow You, wherever You lead me, because I love You. Jesus, help me to walk in obedience. Give me Your strength, power and love so that I can willingly lay down my life for others. Amen.

If you are still a unbeliever, dont think for one minute that Jesus didnt also died for you. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice to pay for our past, present and future sins. It was this selfless decision out of His love for us that saved us from Gods certain judgment.

“Now when they came to Marah, they could not drink the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore the name of it was called Marah. And the people complained against Moses, saying, “What shall we drink?”  So he cried out to the LORD, and the LORD showed him a tree. When he cast it into the waters, the waters were made sweet. There He made a statute and an ordinance for them. And there He tested them,  and said, “If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. For I am the LORD who heals you.”  (Exodus 15:23-26)

In the Old Testament, Jesus had not come as a human yet, but His Word had come. We know from the Word of God that on the cross, Jesus not only took our sins, but He also took our sicknesses and diseases. 

(1 Peter 2:24) talks about this tree.  Look at it, “Who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness–by whose stripes you were healed”.

When God showed Moses a tree, he cast it into the water and the water was made sweet.  This is a type of our Jesus, He hung on the tree for you and for me.  And when we cast ourselves on Him, we are made whole.  I believe this is total wholeness, spirit, soul and body.

So today, look at the tree, and let your sins be cast on it, let your sicknesses be thrown on Him.  It is through the blood that Jesus spilled on the tree, the “cross”, that we are made well not only spirituality but physically!   What a great God we serve.

Prayer

The cross of Jesus and His blood that He spilled are for me.  The work of Calvary was a complete work, a work that was completely done in me.  Thank You, Jesus, for dying on the that tree (cross) and bearing all of my shortcomings so that I can be whole, so I can be be healed, so I can be set free because of what you sacrificed on the tree… I love You and trust You Lord. I will not take my eyes off you… in Your precious name Amen.
