January 18th 2026 – The Power of Words

Scripture Reference:

“Life and death are in the power of the tongue.” (Proverbs 18:21)

Reflection:

In the tapestry of our lives, one thread stands out—the power of our words. The most dangerous weapon known to man is not forged in steel or crafted in a factory; it’s the words we speak. They hold immense power, capable of shaping our reality and influencing our hearts.

As we reflect on Proverbs 18:21, we are reminded that our words can either bring life or death. When we declare, “I have depression” or “I have anxiety,” we must tread carefully. While feelings of anxiety may visit us, they do not define who we are. Remember, your identity is rooted in God’s truth, not in the labels that life or others may try to place upon you.

I have walked through the valleys of anxiety and depression, burdened by the weight of names and accusations from my earthly father that sought to diminish my worth. But liberation came when I chose to remove those negative labels from my mouth. My heart began to change when I stopped agreeing with the lies and started embracing the truth of who I am in Christ.

Do not take ownership of what is not truly you. The enemy may not need to curse you; all too often, we unknowingly curse ourselves through our words and labels we speak over ourselves. What we say matters because you matter. Our painful experiences and past traumas do not dictate our future.

Choose to speak life over yourself. Our declarations have power, and our beliefs shape our identity. Be vigilant about the words spoken over you and the words you choose to accept. Words are seeds; they grow and bear fruit in our lives. We all live under the weight of words—let those words be infused with hope, love, and the promises of God.

As we move forward, let’s commit to speaking life. Let’s declare God’s truth over ourselves: “I am fearfully and wonderfully made,” “I am loved beyond measure,” and “I am a child of the King.” In doing so, we not only reshape our hearts but also our destinies.

May our words be seeds of hope, nurturing the beautiful identity that God has bestowed upon us. Speak life, my friends, and watch as the garden of your heart flourishes in His grace.

“Your words are the brushstrokes of your identity; choose them wisely, for they paint the canvas of your soul.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of words and the power they hold. Help us recognize the weight of our declarations and the impact they have on our hearts and lives. We come before You, seeking healing from the labels and lies that have burdened us.

Lord, guide us to speak life and truth over ourselves. Remind us that we are fearfully and wonderfully made, crafted in Your image, and filled with purpose. Help us to reject any words that do not align with Your truth and to embrace the identity You have given us.

As we navigate our struggles, grant us the strength to declare Your promises. Fill our hearts with hope and courage, so we may rise above our circumstances and shine Your light in the world. May our words become instruments of encouragement, healing, and love. In Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen.
