July 16th 2025 – Embraced in Grief

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)

Grief is a profound and deeply personal journey that can leave us feeling isolated and overwhelmed. When we lose someone we love, the ache of their absence can seem unbearable. However, in our moments of sorrow, we are reminded of the incredible promise that Jesus offers us: He is with us, carrying our burdens and providing comfort.

Jesus understands our pain. He walked this earth and experienced the depths of human emotion. In John 11:35, we see the heart of God as Jesus weeps at the death of Lazarus, showing us that grief is not a sign of weakness, but a testament to the love we hold for those who have passed.

As we navigate through our grief, we are invited to come to Jesus, to lay our sorrow at His feet. He beckons us to take His yoke, which signifies partnership and shared burdens. When we allow ourselves to lean on Him, we find that He strengthens us, comforts us, and guides us through the valleys of despair.

Take some time this week to write a letter to your loved one who has passed. Share your feelings, your memories, and your grief. Then, spend a few moments in prayer, inviting Jesus into your sorrow and asking for His comfort. Consider attending a support group or finding a trusted friend to talk to about your feelings. Remember, sharing your grief can be a step toward healing.

May we find solace in knowing that Jesus walks beside us, guiding us through the darkest valleys and leading us toward the light of His love.

“Grief is the silent echo of love, reminding us that even in loss, the heart’s connection remains unbroken.”

Prayer:
Heavenly Father, in this time of grief, I come to You with a heavy heart. I ask for Your comfort and peace to surround me. Help me to remember that I am not alone in my sorrow; You are with me every step of the way. Lord, carry me through this pain and help me to find hope in Your promises. May I lean on You, trusting that You will lighten my burden and lead me to a place of healing. In Jesus’s name, Amen.

So true. When you understand we join our Heavenly Father at our death, the fear of death, the sadness of the loss, melts away. Thank you Rob Lavallee.
