March 4th 2025 – Dry and Desolate Places

And He said to me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” So I answered, “O Lord GOD, You know.” (Ezekiel 37:3)

Where do you find yourself spiritually at this moment? Take a moment to reflect honestly: Are you feeling frustrated? Exhausted? Devastated? Does it feel like your world is closing in, leaving you overwhelmed? Are you weary, drained by tears, or feeling spiritually lifeless?

“This I recall to my mind; therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies, we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ‘The LORD is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘therefore I hope in Him!’” (Lamentations 3:21-24)

To a weary and hopeless soul, the idea of hope may seem distant or even impossible. I understand that feeling; I’ve walked that path before, searching for hope in barren and desolate places. I remember the struggle all too well.

In Matthew 7:7-8, Jesus offers us a profound promise: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.”

Consider what surrounds you. What fills your mind and heart? Is it television, music, gadgets, politics, or perhaps substances like alcohol? These distractions offer no true hope. Authentic hope is found only in Jesus. God’s promises endure forever. You can truly live—not just exist—and that life is found in Him, not in the world.

“You can truly live; Jesus is the answer!”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the hope You provide through Jesus. Help me remain steadfast, even when I find myself in a valley of dry bones. When everything else seems to fade away, I turn to You. Remind me to nourish my spirit with Your Word, trusting that You will rescue me when I call upon You. I give You all praise and glory for the promises You have set before me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
