“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” (Psalm 34:18)
Are you feeling the weight of disappointment, as if you’re letting everyone down? This burden can be incredibly heavy, especially when you compare your past self to who you are now after facing something like a chronic illness. In these challenging moments, it’s essential to remember that your true worth is not defined by the expectations of others but by the boundless love and grace of God.
When doubts creep in and you feel inadequate, take a moment to pause and reflect on your identity in Christ. You are not just any individual; you are a beloved child of the Almighty, cherished and valued beyond measure. Even in times of struggle, failure, or disappointment, know that God’s love for you remains constant and unchanging. The Psalmist beautifully reminds us that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted, ensuring us that He fully understands our pain and is always ready to provide comfort and solace.
Take a few moments to reflect and write down three qualities or traits that you appreciate about yourself. This practice can help you recognize the unique gifts God has bestowed upon you during this season of your life. Additionally, consider how God views you—His love is not based on your performance but is a free gift of grace. Don’t hesitate to share your feelings with someone you trust; their encouragement can serve as a powerful reminder of your inherent worth in Christ.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart burdened by disappointment and self-doubt. Thank You for Your unchanging love and for being my refuge in difficult times. Help me to see myself through Your eyes, understanding that my worth is rooted in You. When I feel like I’m falling short, remind me that I am always within Your grace and compassion. Grant me the strength to rise above these feelings and to trust in the divine purpose You have for my life, even amid my imperfections. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
