December 15th 2024 – The Gift of Grace

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9)

In a world that often measures worth by achievements and accolades, it’s easy to fall into the trap of believing that we must earn love, approval, or even salvation. However, Ephesians reminds us that grace is not something we can earn through our efforts; it is a gift freely given by God.

Think about the concept of a gift. When someone gives you a gift, the joy comes not from the effort you put into receiving it, but from the love and thoughtfulness of the giver. Similarly, God extends His grace to us not because we deserve it, but because He loves us unconditionally.

As we navigate our daily lives, let us embrace this truth. When we stumble or when self-doubt creeps in, we can remind ourselves that our identity is rooted in God’s grace. We are not defined by our failures, but by the love that God has for us.

Today, take a moment to reflect on the gifts you have received from God. How can you share that grace with someone else in your life? Write down a few ideas and commit to putting them into action this week.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for the incredible gift of grace. Help me to remember that I am saved through faith in You, not by my own efforts. Teach me to live each day in the light of Your love and to extend that grace to others. May I find joy in the knowledge that I am enough simply because You are enough. Amen.
