“Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.” (Romans 13:8)

The law tells us not to do anything bad. Love says to do something good. We are all in love-debt to one another. When does it end? Never – We should always owe one another love.

(Matthew 22:37-40) “Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.”

God is the initiator. “We love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4:19). Now, it’s our turn to be initiators of love – love starters. Love is a commitment. Do things that demonstrate your love for others. Help others rack up their love-debt. Look at everything you do and question whether it’s out of love. You might find you need to make some adjustments. Let’s kick Christianity up a notch and take following Jesus and loving people to a whole new level.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your love, for Your grace and for Your mercy. Lord, You freely give these things to me. Help me to also be quick to show love, grace and mercy to others. Please forgive me for times when I have hoarded Your love to myself instead of opening it up to others. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“For if I am an offender, or have committed anything deserving of death, I do not object to dying; but if there is nothing in these things of which these men accuse me, no one can deliver me to them. I appeal to Caesar.” (Acts 25:11)

What does God see when he looks at you? He sees you clearly right where you are. God knows your potential. He created you. He knows the gifts and talents that He has given you. God knows how He wants to use you to love and serve Him and others. Sometimes God will use things in our lives that we least expect Him to use. In Acts 25, we see God using Paul’s Roman citizenship to give him the opportunity to preach the Gospel before King Agrippa and a huge audience in the amphitheater at Caesarea. Like Paul, God is able to use you to do incredible things right where you are. No gift or talent is too big or too small. No circumstance too dire, God can use it.

Do you want to be used by God? You can start right where you are in your home, workplace and in your church. How are you serving God today? How will you be serving God a month from now or even a year from now? I want to encourage you to start serving God right where you are. God has got an awesome adventure planned for you; a miraculous mission lies waiting for you if you choose to accept your mission. God will use you in ways you never thought possible.

“God wants to work through you right where you are with what you have right now.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for the gifts, talents and circumstances You have given me. I commit to using my gifts to glorify You… starting today. I pray this in Jesus’ name, Amen

“I am giving you a promise now while the seed is still in the barn. You have not yet harvested your grain, and your grapevines, fig trees, pomegranates, and olive trees have not yet produced their crops. But from this day onward I will bless you.” (Haggai 2:29)

If you found yourself on trial as a Christian, would they have enough evidence to convict you? This poignant question is good for us to ask because it causes us to assess our walk with the Lord. While this is helpful, be careful not to fall into the trap believing that all Christians look the same.

We all have trusted in Jesus for salvation, but the work He has for us is often different. Look around you. Is there someone hurting or in need of God’s Truth? What are your skills or spiritual gifts? Are you using them for the glory of God? You see, each of us is created to glorify God, but we all do that in different ways. Each of us is at a different level in our Christian walk but we are all walking with the same person, Jesus. So this morning, look at your life and ask God to show you how you can show Him to others in a way that only you can. He’s saved you. He’s equipped you with your unique special gifts. Celebrate that your one of a kind.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for creating me the way that You have. Each aspect of me is part of Your creative Spirit. I pray that You show me how I can use my gifts for Your glory and for the furthering of the Gospel. Help me to walk outside my door and be ready to engage those around me for Your purpose. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

In today’s society, it can be difficult to live a life that calls for us to be different. We excuse away bad behavior and submit to pressures that weigh on us – and we compromise. We try to do things our own way and resist doing things God’s way. Second Chronicles 7:14 says, “If we seek Him humbly and turn from our wrongdoings we can have this intimate relationship with Him.” Zephaniah 1:1-6 Warns if we disobey Him, our lives will be consumed with ruin.

God longs for us to be obedient and desires a deep relationship with us. While we cannot live a perfect life, we can set our heart and minds on God and seek Him.

Are you living on the fence? Have you compromised in your relationship with other Christians, in prayer or in time with Him and His Word? Are you willing to seek God and turn away from your own selfish ways? The day is drawing near when God will intervene in each of our lives. In our inability to offer Him anything, He still accepts you and me. God provides a way out through His Son, Jesus, as payment for our sins–for those who place their faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

What will you decide today? You can decide now to live for Him, sit on the fence or reject Him and spend eternity separated from Him. This is an act of your will and no one can make the decision for you. The time is now.

“The warning still applies to us today.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for loving me. Thank You for the opportunity to examine my relationship with You. I have strayed, and I do not want to compromise my life anymore. I commit myself to You afresh. I admit that I am a sinner. I believe You sent Your Son to die for my sins.Right now, I ask for Your power to help me turn from my sins. Thank You for forgiving me and saving me. Help me to be a blessing to You and others with each day that You give to me. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Finding Faith can be a hard for many. Some have been jaded by misplaced trust and therefore have a hard time believing anyone, even God. While this may be a problem, the more challenging issue is misplaced faith. We all have faith in something. Our faith may be placed in ourselves, whether because of our wealth or authority, or it could be placed in someone or something completely different. Either way, faith that is not placed in Christ alone will only lead to ruin.

In 2 Timothy, the Apostle Paul warns his young disciple of a time that would come where men would trust in their own self. Their misplaced faith would lead to a world filled with pride, anger, hatred and irreverence for the things of God. Paul concludes with the warning, “Stay away from them.”

As Christians, we must be guided by our faith and trust in Christ. He is our Savior and King, and His Word alone is our guide into eternal life. When we trust in His Word, we will find a life that is filled with love, grace and forgiveness. This love has the power to change the world, but this love is only available to us when we trust in the One who is ultimate love, Jesus Christ.

“We all have a measure of faith. It’s what we choose to put our faith in will ultimately guide our decision making, our perspective and the course of action for our lives.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the love You have shown me through the death and resurrection of Jesus. Help me to hold firm to this Truth so that my faith will continue to grow. Fill me with Your Spirit so that I can discern those who may be living for themselves. Help me to minister to those who need to hear the Gospel message. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread.” (1 Corinthians 10:17)

The Body of Christ is truly amazing as millions of believers all over the world come together with a common goal of sharing the Gospel. When the church, the body of Christ, is functioning correctly, the world around it is blessed as people are fed, clothed and given the life-changing Truth of God’s Word. Unfortunately because of division, worldly pleasures or indifference, the church can lose sight of the lost as well as the One we are serving.

(John 17:20-21) “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”

Before Jesus was arrested, He prayed asking the Father to make all believers one as He and His Father are One. When Christians come together as the body of Christ, we come together with different likes and dislikes, personalities and social statuses. We may even have some secondary doctrinal differences, but with all those differences, we have One unifying similarity. We have all been forgiven by a gracious God and we call Jesus Lord. With this as our banner, we can stand in unity as one body for the sake of the lost.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for the body of Christ. Thank You for loving brothers and sisters who are there to encourage and challenge me in my faith. I also thank You for the Lord for the very special people that You have brought into my life, I pray that You would help unite us as one so that we can be used in a powerful way to take Your Gospel to all the nations. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Therefore send me at once a man skillful to work in gold and silver, in bronze and iron, in purple and crimson and blue, who has skill to engrave with the skillful men who are with me in Judah and Jerusalem, whom David my father provided.” (2 Chronicles 2:7)

In 2 Chronicles 2, we find King Solomon preparing to build the Temple. In order to create this amazing structure, he enlists skilled laborers of all different trades to begin working on the Lord’s house. Did you know the same is true even today? While we may not be building a physical temple, we are all working to build the Kingdom of God. To do this well, we must use the talents and gifts God has given us for His purpose.

Of course, I have heard some say, “I don’t have any gifts” or “I’m not skilled in anything.” This is far from the truth. In fact, God’s Word refutes that thought.

In Ephesians 2:10 we read, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”

You see, we are God’s masterpiece and have been created by God to do good works for Him. In order to walk in those good works, He has gifted us each with certain talents. The exciting part is figuring out what these talents and abilities are and how we can use them to build His Kingdom. What’s your skill? Are you ready to use it for the Lord?

“We are all skilled/gifted by God. Find your gifting and serve Him with your whole heart.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for making me. I praise You Lord for the abilities I have and the talents You have given me. Lord, help me to look for opportunities to use these special gifts for You. If there is anything keeping me from serving You with all my heart, please remove it. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I will be fully equipped to help build Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17)

When we think of Christ and the day He came to us, many of us may think of baby Christ lying in a manger surrounded by Mary, Joseph and shepherds. This is the foundation of the holiday we call Christmas. While we all have different perspectives on that day, there is one thing that Jesus Christ first arival on earth did. It brought and continues to bring the light that can change our lives – forever. It’s this, “For God so loved the world that He gave…”

The Maker of all creation gave to us. He did not give to us because we were worth it or because we had something to offer. He gave because He loved. The moment God became flesh was the most perfect act of love in history. Jesus left the glories of heaven and the throne of His Father and came into the tiny town of Bethlehem as a baby. With this act, God declared to all of humanity, “You are not alone.” Jesus did not come into Bethlehem bringing condemnation. He came so that He could give His life so that our sins could be forgiven. This is the greatest gift you will ever receive, but like all gifts you must open it first.

“Jesus came to save and forgive anyone who believes in Him, not to condemn them.”

Prayer:

Dear God, Thank You God for Your precious gift. Thank You for sending Jesus into our world so that we can have hope. I understand that it’s because of His life, death, and resurrection that I can be forgiven of all that I’ve done. Father, help me to keep this as my focus and give me the boldness to share this good news with others so that they may come to know you. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

And above all things have fervent love for one another, for “love will cover a multitude of sins.” (1 Peter 4:8)

In 1 Peter 4, the apostle uses an interesting word to describe the love we are to have for one another. He says we are to have a “fervent” love. In the Greek, this word means “stretched out” and carries with it a picture of a runner straining for the finish line. It’s a vivid image of a love that never quits. This love is a marathon type of love, not a sprint.

What does this “stretched out” love look like? Peter answers this question with the next quote, “Love will cover a multitude of sins.” In other words, a fervent, stretched-out love is a love that forgives no matter the cost. Like a marathon runner continues despite the burning in his lungs and the cramps in his muscles because he desires to achieve the goal, so we should endure the pain of rejection and the harsh words of those around us with a love in our hearts and a forgiving spirit. How can we love like this? We can love this way because Christ first loved us. He loved us even when we were sinners. He loved us, even when we rebelled against Him. He loved us with stretched out arms on the cross. Let’s love each other in the same way.

“We should stretch ourselves in order to love one another. This means being willing to forgive no matter the cost.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, I thank You for Your love and ask that You would help me to love others in the same way. Help me to forgive often, love unconditionally and serve those around me. Use my fervent love to draw others to Your amazing grace. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:”
(1 Corinthians 12:7)

Can you imagine what it might have been like on the Day of Pentecost? Hearing a rushing wind, you look around to see tongues of fire upon each person assembled with you. Then as soon as you’re filled with God’s Spirit you begin speaking in other languages. As incredible as it all sounds, imagine what it might have been like hours before. Many of these men and women had seen or heard Jesus and knew of His resurrection. They also were aware of His great commission and were probably wondering how in the world they were supposed to go into all the world and share the Gospel. After all, they were a small group and, it was a big world.

The good news is that God did not leave them there to strive in vain. They were not going to have to rely on their own strength to accomplish what Jesus had instructed them to do. In obedience to Christ, those men and women waited for the Helper, who came to them in power. That same Helper is available to you today. He is the Holy Spirit. When we ask Him to fill us with His Spirit, He will. Without Him, we’ll find our efforts fall short, but when we are filled with His power, our lives can change the world.

“We need to be filled with the Holy Spirit to be witnesses, spread the Word and do the work of the ministry.”

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, Thank You for Jesus and the forgiveness of sins. I also thank You for the Helper Whom You have sent to equip me. Lord, today I pray that You would fill me with Your Holy Spirit so that I can be strengthened and empowered to serve You. Give me an opportunity to share Your love and Your Word with this hurting world. In Jesus Name, Amen.
