August 21st 2015 – I Knit You Together

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:1-14)

When I read this verse, my mind wanders off to a turn of the century style living room, softly lit by a crackling fire. There is grandmother in this room, gently rocking back and forth in her maple rocking chair as she knits a sweater for a beloved grandson. I can see the expression on her face, as all her love is, for this moment focused on this new creation.

In her mind, she can picture how the sweater will look when it is finished, and the joy that it will bring to her grandchild’s heart. With anticipation, she continues to count (knit one, pearl two, knit one, pearl two) as the sweater begins take the form that she always imagined it to be. This project is not work for her, for it brings much joy to her soul and delight to her heart because each stitch is filled with love.

Now for a moment, think about how God knit you together in your mother’s womb. Our Father uses such a tender illustration of how He lovingly, and carefully created our being. He could have blasted us together, or snapped His fingers and we would have appeared, but He chose a more delicate process in which He could be intimately involved as He formed us in our mother’s womb…knit one, pearl two, knit one, pearl two. Stitch by stitch, loop by loop, each one of our parts was delicately and carefully crafted by Almighty God.

Your life is not the product of an impersonal evolution, but the result of a loving Father, who planned your creation before the foundations of the world, and took the time to knit you together in your mother’s womb. You are a masterpiece, and your very existence brings much joy to your Father’s heart.

Prayer

Father I thank You for creating my inmost being. I know each strand of my DNA was fashioned by You, stitch by stitch, loop by loop, with a love that called me to life. I was created in love, and for love. And in my heart, I want to express my love back to you for being such a wonderful Father to me that You would knit me together in my mother’s womb. In the name of Your beloved Son Jesus, I pray. Amen.

August 20th 2015 – Brand New Day

images-125“Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 3:13-14)

I once heard a story about a man who was slowly losing his memory. After a lengthy examination, the doctor said that a risky operation on his brain might reverse his condition and restore his memory. However, the surgery would be so delicate that a nerve could be severed, causing total blindness.

The surgeon asked, “So, which would you rather have, your sight or your memory?” The man pondered the question for a while and replied, “My sight, because I would rather see where I am going than remember where I have been.”

Our enemy is always trying to dig up the past and keep us all bound up in our failures. Instead of focusing on what was, lets see what God’s Word has to say about it.

“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)

4 Things You Must Do For a Fresh Start to Occur:

(1) Forget the former things. It will only weigh you down and keep you from where you are going.

(2) Do not dwell on the past. This just jumbles your mind with garbage. There’s no room for garbage when making a fresh start.

(3) Acknowledge the fresh start is a gift from God. He’s doing a new thing in you. “Do you not perceive it,” we are asked. Don’t miss it.Trust God. He’s making a new way for you. Haven’t you done it your way enough?

(4)Trust Him. Not for a quick fix, but in making a “new way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

Be Encouraged! Today is a new day! Today and every day we have a choice to make! Like Paul, we must choose to press forward and put aside our past. We must purpose to keep our eyes on the Lord, not on our successes or failures, but upon on what can we do for Him today!

Prayer

Lord we place today in Your hands and trust You to direct our day until we place my head back onto our pillows to sleep.. Thank you for your presence in our lives. We love you. IN Jesus name. Amen..

“Then He came to Bethsaida; and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. So He took the blind man by the hand and led him out of the town. And when He had spit on his eyes and put His hands on him, He asked him if he saw anything. And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” Then He put His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored and saw everyone clearly.” (Mark 8:22-25)

I was listening to a sermon on the AM radio, I often do this on the way to work, . This guy was preaching on Mark 8. In that Scripture, Jesus spit in the man’s eyes and said, “What do you see?” The man said, “Men like trees, walking.” Then He touched him again and the man was healed. The preacher on TV said, “See, even with Jesus it doesn’t always work the first time.” I couldn’t believe he said that! So I set out to find the meaning of that verse. I studied until 1:00 am, and then I heard the Lord say, “Why don’t you just ask Me what it means?” Before I could even ask Him, the Lord began revealing the meaning to me. It wasn’t that it didn’t work the first time. It’s that before He opened the man’s natural eyes, He opened his spiritual eyes.

Let’s look deeper at what happened before this story in Mark 8. Jesus had just finished feeding 4,000 people with only seven loaves of bread and the Pharisees came to Him and said, “Show us a sign.” Jesus was probably thinking, Were you not just here for lunch? Talk about spiritual blindness! But it continued as Jesus and the disciples got on a boat. The disciples forgot to bring bread, and when Jesus said, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees,” they thought He was mad because there was no bread. Do you think Jesus, who just fed 4,000 people with seven loaves of bread, was worried about not having bread? He wasn’t talking about physical bread. He told them they didn’t understand what He was talking about because they have eyes but do not see. Then, as soon as they got off the boat, Jesus opened the eyes of the blind man. Do you see the symbolism there?

Maybe you’re thinking you need Jesus to open your spiritual eyes, too. The Bible says there is a veil over our eyes until we believe. But even after that, we must beware of our pride. If you read the Bible and think you know everything already, you won’t see anything. It wasn’t until I asked God to tell me the meaning of the story that I understood. If you take your Bible and pray, “Lord, I am blind without You. I can’t understand the Bible unless You show me,” then He will open your spiritual eyes, and things will begin to jump off the page.

Prayer

Lord,

We can’t truly see or hear without You. We want to receive spiritual sight today. We want Your words to jump off my Bible’s pages at us. Help us to see things in Scripture that we didn’t see before. We want You to speak to us through Your Word for our jobs, careers, families, marriages and our lives. We want to live by the Word of God, not by natural bread, alone. We love and praise You. In jesus precious name, Amen

August 18th 2015 – Pray with Amazement

“The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry” (Psalm 34:15)

When I was a boy, I wonderd how God could listen to so many prayers at the same time. How could He possibly hear each one and yet keep the babble of voices separate? And how could He answer those prayers when one person asks for rain and another for sunshine— both on the same day?

These problems no longer trouble me, even though I still can’t explain how God can respond to our prayers. I do know, however, that He is all-knowing and present everywhere, and that His wisdom and power are beyond our comprehension.

We don’t have to take turns coming to Him, nor must we wait for just the right opportunity. At any time and in any place we can lift our voices to the Lord with full assurance that He will hear us. And He does more than just receive our requests—He comprehends, He understands, and He perceives exactly what His children ask for in faith.

Has God heard you yet today? He invites you to make your requests known to Him. What a tragedy that so many of His children go through the day without uttering a single prayer to the One who takes pleasure in hearing their voices! Proverbs 15:8 says, “The prayer of the upright is His delight.” So pray. God listens!

There never is a night or day When God won’t hear us as we pray;

There is no time, there is no place, When He would withhold His love and grace. 

Prayer

Lord God, We want to thank You for hearing each and every prayer that we make to You., and we give praises to each prayer that You have answered. It still amazes me how even when it’s sometimes not the answer we may want, when we look back we can see that it’s is always what was best for us. We love You and we sing your praises. With love…

August 17th 2015 – Waiting on Prayers Answered.

The Lord is good to those who wait hopefully and expectantly for Him, to those who seek Him.” (Lamentations 3:25)

Sometimes I see God answer my prayers right away. I’m excited, thankful and ready to tell everyone about His goodness. Then, there are those other times when my prayers linger and miracles seem far away. As time goes on, i would start to doubt that God even heard me.

I didnt accept Jesus as my Lord and Savior until I was 36. When I was first learning how to pray If my prayers were answered quickly, I’d give Jesus praises,  tell everyone about it and then move on to my next request. But, if time went on and  didn’t show up, I’d get discouraged and frustrated. My waiting turned to worry. My perseverance shifted to sadness and disparity.

At times waiting on God to answer prayers was like playing a game. Who would last the longest? Would I continue to ask, plead and persevere? Or would I give up first because I was tired of waiting? Or maybe God would give me what I wanted because He was tired of hearing all my whining and complaining.

Lord, why haven’t You answered my prayers? What are You waiting for? Can’t You see me struggling? You’re taking too long and I just don’t understand why.

I began to think God might be holding out on me. Maybe I wasnt deserving, He really didn’t care about me. Or, maybe my circumstances weren’t important enough to Him.

But as I grew in my relationship with the Lord and learned to understand His character, my attitude changed. I realized how much God loves me and knows the desires tucked deep inside my heart. He promises to meet my needs (Philippians 4:19), and His miracles are not a thing of the past.

Today’s key verse tells us that after we pray and ask God for a need, want or desire, we should wait with expectancy and hope.

You might be thinking, Rob, you just don’t understand. I’ve been waiting for God to answer my prayers for so long.

Maybe you’ve resigned to believing there’s no hope. Sure, you started out confident and faith-filled, but as time goes by you’ve started to wonder if any good can come from your circumstances.

Maybe you’ve wrapped an invisible wall around your heart so you won’t be disappointed if God doesn’t come through for you.

Friend, I understand. I’ve been there. I’ve felt that way, too, and it’s a lonely place to live each day.

So what does it look like to have an attitude of hope and expectancy as we wait on the Lord to answer our prayers?

I’ve learned to intentionally shift my focus to three things:

(1) God’s Promises: I read Bible verses and speak them aloud daily. As the power of God’s Word weaves hope into my prayers, encouragement fills the empty places in my heart. I’m reminded once again of God’s unfailing love and faithfulness.

(2) Praise & Worship: I listen to praise music throughout the day in my house, car and at work in my office. The lyrics and melodies splash over me with joy as I sing along. I sense God’s peace and pleasure and in those sweet moments, my worries fade, turning my doubts into confident expectancy.

(3) Thanksgiving: I thank God for the answered prayers and miracles in my past. I remember how God always came through in those tough times of great need, and I thank Him in advance for His answers yet to come.

If you’ve asked God for answers but find yourself waiting longer than you planned, take a moment now to thank Him in advance for His answer. Trust that He is working behind the scenes on your behalf. Don’t give up. Look forward in hope and expectancy for Him to respond and remember that the Lord is good to those who seek Him.

Prayer

Lord God,, Thank You for remaining faithful to me. Help me have hope and expectancy as I wait for Your answers to my prayers. And during the extended times when you are waiting for the perfect moment to answer or just waiting on me to be ready, may I contine to give you my praises and wait with a heart of gratitude because your Grace is more then sufficent for me. I thank you for Leading me and Loving me.

In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

God promises that we will be  Safe and Secure in His presence. We will in fact have an Eternal Security if we are a born again believer of Jesus Christ.

“I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand.” (John 10:28 NIV)

There is a movement in Christianity that teaches and beleives that we as children of God, can loose our salvation if we should back slide or turns back to our old sinful habbits.

The Christian should never think or speak lightly of unbelief of what God Promises. For a child of God to mistrust the Father’s love, truth, and faithfulness, must be terribly displeasing to God. How we must grieve Him by doubting His upholding grace? It is contrary to every promise of God’s precious Word that you should even think that you will ever be forgotten or left to perish! If that could possibly happen, how could He be true at all? He Himself has said, “Can a woman forget to have compassion on her nursing child? Even if she forgets, still I will never forget you.” (Isaiah 49:15)

What is the value of His promise that, ”Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the LORD, who has compassion on you (Isaiah 54:10 NIV) Where is the truth of Christ’s words, “I give eternal life to My sheep, and they will never die; and no man will pluck them out of My hand… or out of My Father’s hand?”

Where would the doctrines of grace be? They would be all disproved if one child of God would be lost. Where would the veracity of God be– His honor, His power, His grace, His covenant, His oath– if any of those for whom Christ has died and who have put their trust in Him should ever be cast away?

Tell those unbelieving fears to go! And put on your beautiful garments. Remember it is sinful to doubt His Word, since He has promised that you will never die. Let the eternal life within you express itself in confident rejoicing

Prayer

Dear Jesus, thank you for walking with us and giving us peace. We surrender each day to you, and ask that you will use us to help others get to know you. Please continue to mold each of us into the person you have destined us to become. Thank you for for the love you have personally shown me. Thank you for the Faith you give to each one of us. I pray that the Holy Spirit will immediately reveil the false teachings within the church, may the leaders be corrected with love who misinterpreted your word.  May thier congregation  experience healing and not fall away. We love you Lord!  I pray this in Jesus name, Amen!

August 15th, 2015 – Roaring Thunder

“Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge.” (Psalm 46:10-11 NKJV)

When I was laying in bed the other night with my spouse, the sound of thunder roared outside. Just minutes earlier, drops of water sprinkled my plants and flowers with life. The following day the rain eventually stopped, the sun came back out, and bursts of continuous thunder captured my attention.

I sat still, and just listened to God speak. With each burst of noise, it’s as if He was speaking a promise: I am good. I am faithful. I am sovereign. I am love. I am merciful. I am victorious. I am truth. I am comfort. I am constant. I am peace. I am hope. I am with you. I am for you. I am all you need.

All reminders that He is in control and He is near. Sometimes we feel like we don’t hear God. Sometimes we shake our heads in confusion because we don’t understand why He allows certain things to happen, and other things not to happen. Sometimes we get overwhelmed by the weight of our problems. Sometimes we wish God would just show us what’s ahead, or speak loud and clear so we know what direction to go.

We want the answers, but maybe sometimes what we need is the thunder. Maybe what we really need is to just be still and know that He is God. Nothing in this whole wide world will ever shake His Promises. After all, this whole wide world belongs to Him.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank You that You speak to us in so many different ways. Today, many things will want our attention, but help us to seek moments of stillness with You. Give us hearts of wonder that see You, hear You, and feel You everywhere we go. Thank You that it all points to Your great love for Your creation. In Jesus’ Name, Amen

August 14th 2015 – When You Pray, Believe Jesus

We can have all our doctrines right and be experts in the Scriptures like the Pharisees, but it will be of no use unless we apply it to our lives by faith.

This was the reason why those Israelites whom God delivered out of Egypt could not enter their promised land: “For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it” (Hebrews 4:2).

For the same reason, God cannot answer our prayers unless we pray in faith: “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for he who doubts is like a wave of the sea driven and tossed by the wind. For let not that man suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord” (James 1:6-7).

Can you believe?

Two blind men came to Jesus and said to Him, “Son of David, have mercy on us!”(Matthew 9:27).

Why did they phrase their petition for healing in this way? According to tradition, being blind was a punishment and curse for something terrible they or their forefathers must have done. So the men actually were saying to Jesus, “You know that we are not worthy of getting anything from You. If You would do this for us, it is Your choice and mercy.” And the Lord answered them, “According to your faith let it be to you” (Matthew 9:29).

With this Jesus was saying, “The question is not whether I am willing to show mercy—I am always willing—but can you believe?” They could, and they immediately received their sight.

We must hold onto the Word that is sown into our hearts. The faith we need to see our prayers answered only comes and develops from God’s Word: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). 

Yet so much of the Bible teaching we hear and the Scripture we study or memorize is taken away by the enemy, either through our unbelief or because we don’t hold on to it and meditate on it.

Joshua was instructed by God not to let the book of the Law depart from his mouth, but to meditate on it day and night in order to have success (see Joshua 1:8). Continuously meditating on God’s Word drives it deep into our hearts and develops faith.

Our faith must be in Jesus.

Abraham believed God when it was impossible for him to have a son. The blind men believed in Jesus to get their sight. Likewise, our faith does not rest on our faith, or in some imaginations we cook up on feelings. Instead, our faith is in the person of Jesus Christ.

When we pray for a need, let us deliberately say, “Jesus, You are more than able to do this. I believe You can do it and I trust You to do it.”

It takes a childlike heart to believe.

I heard the story of a father who was frantically trying to rescue his little son from their burning two-story house. The child was alone upstairs, and the father couldn’t get to him because of the flames and smoke. Standing downstairs in an open area, he called out to his son. “Daddy, I can’t see you! I can’t see you!” the boy answered. “Son, jump!” the father shouted.“I can’t see you, Daddy,” the boy hesitated. “Can you hear my voice?” the father asked.“Yes!” the child cried. “Then jump in the direction of my voice,” his father responded. “Don’t worry; I will catch you.” The child jumped, and his father caught him in his arms and carried him to safety.

We may find ourselves in the midst of confusion that feels like thick smoke and flames, where our rational thinking and reason don’t work. That’s when we need to respond and pray like a little child: “I don’t understand, Lord, but I will jump at Your Word and trust You to fulfill Your promise.”

Remember that Nothing is impossible with God.

Whatever your need may be today, Jesus is able and willing to help you. There is nothing impossible with Him.

Fill your heart with God’s Word, meditate on it and put your faith in Jesus. And then, when you pray, believe like a little child and you will see your Heavenly Father meet your need.

Prayer

Dear Jesus,

We come to you as a Humble Children, You know what we seek before we even say it, You even know what we need before we even ask. In times when our hope, faith and strength are fading Jesus please lift us up. Make us see your light, help us truly believe in you with childlike faith. Make us strong, give us your power to survive the Great storm, you are the only father we trust. Jesus we love you, we worship you and praise you. In Jesus name Amen

Resist the devil and he will flee from you. (James 4:7)

We all have a spiritual enemy. For those who don’t know or believe that, their ability to identify the enemy’s work and resist it will be nonexistent. The enemy wants to destroy families, marriages and your life, because God has has a great plan for your life. The enemy on the otherhand, can and will use people, create situations in your life and even use guilt to deceive you from the truth.

The enemy comes “to steal, and to kill, and to destroy” (John 10:10). He is the author of lies. “He is a liar and the father of it” (John 8:44). By enticing you to believe his lies, he can steal your joy, kill your love, and destroy your relationships with the one’s that love you. He will speak thoughts into your mind that contradict the Word of God, that play on your insecurities and doubts, and cause you to back away from the God the loves you. He will feed you suspicious and critical thoughts and try to make you think that his lies are true and that God’s truth is a lie.

When the opression of the Holy Spirit comes In your life, ask God to help you discern how much is due to works of the flesh and how much is the plan of the enemy in operation. Then take steps to resist both. Pray often that you will have the ability to recognize the enemy’s lies. In order to do that, you must have a clear knowledge of God’s truth. So fill your mind and soul with His Word. Ask Him to show you clearly what is true and what is not. Keep praying and God will reveal this to you. Resist the enemy by choosing to live in obedience to God’s ways and by worshipping God for who He is. The enemy hates that and has to flee from you.

My Prayer to God

Lord, I pray You would help us to discern the lies of the enemy—especially when the enemy hides within the strife and tension he creates. Open our eyes to recognize any spirit of division or confusion as the enemy’s plan to divert us away from the plans of God. We submit our lives to You. Help us to surrender to You in every way and choose to live according to Your laws. Teach us to submit to You by reading and speaking Your Word so that it is implanted in our hearts and becomes part of our lives as we live in obedience to it. Help us to submit to You in prayer, in praise, in worship, and in gratitude. 

Thank You, Lord, that You have given us victory over all the plans of the enemy. Thank You that he has to flee from our lives when we expose his plans to the light. Give us  wisdom to identify the enemy’s work in our lives and the power to resist him.

August 12th 2015 – I’m at a Cross Road.

“Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow.” (Psalm 25:4)

Have ypu ever come to a crossroad in life? Have you ever prayed for direction and not be sure of what God’s answer is?

Are the constant appeals of our world pulling you in a million different ways, causing you to question if you’re headed in the right direction?

You may have dreams you want to fulfill. But life is confusing at times. And most days it seems like you’re just surviving instead of living out those dreams or accomplishing your goals.

Numerous distractions.

Others telling us what to do

Too many choices.

Endless interruptions.

There have been days I’ve felt like one foot was fixed to the floor, while my other foot scurried in every direction. Expending a lot of energy and mental fatigue, but going nowhere. Can you relate?

Wouldn’t it be awesome to wake up every morning and be assured you’re on the right path towards your goals? To know with certainty that you’re headed in the right direction? To feel confident with each step, without constantly questioning yourself?

Too many times I’ve second-guessed a decision I was confident about. I want so desperately to follow God’s will that I’ll pray, but then feel uncertain, not wanting to make a wrong move. I wonder: Maybe this isn’t what I’m supposed to be doing. Maybe this isn’t part of God’s plan for my life.

As I’ve wrestled with indecision and insecurity, I’ve sought God’s Word for help. A few months ago, I found a priceless nugget of truth in the Bible. It addresses our desire for guidance and shows us what to do when we need clear direction.

King David composed these words in a beautiful psalm, tucked within the pages of the Old Testament:

“Show me the right path, O LORD; point out the road for me to follow. Lead me by your truth and teach me, for you are the God who saves me. All day long I put my hope in you”(Psalm 25:4-5).

These verses reveal David’s humble and teachable heart. He wanted to be guided by God and led by His truth. David knew God was his Savior and placed all his hope in the One who created the right path for him.

We find the answers to David’s request for guidance only a few short passages away. Promises we can claim for our own lives:

“The LORD is good and does what is right; he shows the proper path to those who go astray. He leads the humble in doing right, teaching them his way. The LORD leads with unfailing love and faithfulness all who keep his covenant and obey his demands”(Psalm 25:8-10).

Based on these verses, when our hearts are humble and truly seeking God’s will, we can be confident of this:

1. God will always show us what is right for us, stuff will fall right into place. 

2. When we get sidetracked, God will direct us back to the right path.

3. We are not alone. God leads and teaches us along the way.

4. God leads those who obey Him with unfailing love and faithfulness.

If you’re unsure about some things in your life, don’t wait another day to figure it out on your own. Ensure your heart is in the right place of humility, and then ask God to help you. Once you’ve asked, trust that God is directing you.

If you know you’ve gotten on the wrong path, seek God for direction instead of looking to the world for answers. As you take steps to follow and obey God’s voice, He will lovingly show you the way.

You may have prayed and can’t wait for, or are unsure of God’s answer.

The good news is that God’s written word will never lead you wrong. it’s our instruction manual.

Last month I asked the Lord help me etch 150 verses of scripture onto my heart and mind, so I’d always have them with me — especially on days when I feel like I’m going in circles and lacking direction or maybe spiritually under opression. 

“The LORD says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.’” (Psalm 32.8)

“Let the favor of the LORD our God be upon us, and establish the work of our hands upon us; yes, establish the work of our hands!” (Psalm 90:17)

Today, I’m praying these verses over you.

Dear Lord, help your child come to You when He/She in need of direction. Remind them that the world can’t offer what they deeply long for, nor does it hold thier future, but You certainly do. Thank You for guiding them today. May you show them in their heart what is truly best for them all distractions aside. May they listen to You for your direction for their life, and they always know that your answer will always follow Your witten word. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
